Every year, hundreds of boaters need help on Lake Macquarie and the surrounding coastline.
Engines fail near Swansea Heads or on the Lake.
Weather turns suddenly offshore.
Boats run aground or lose power in the channel.
When that happens, the volunteers of Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie respond.
Operating from Swansea Heads and Pelican, this unit is the largest and busiest in Marine Rescue NSW. Volunteer crews launch rescue vessels day and night across Lake Macquarie, the Swansea Channel and offshore waters of the Hunter coast.
They bring stranded families home.
They assist disabled vessels.
They support search and rescue operations when lives are at risk.
Every rescue relies on specialised equipment — rescue vessels, fuel, radios, navigation systems, safety gear and constant training.
The crews are volunteers.
But the equipment that keeps them operational relies heavily on community support.
Your donation helps keep rescue vessels on the water, maintain critical communications, and ensure volunteers are properly trained and equipped to respond when someone calls for help.
A gift today helps ensure that when a mayday call comes from Lake Macquarie or offshore at Swansea, a trained volunteer crew can launch immediately.
Thank you for helping Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie keep our boating community safe.
